The next Safari browser on iPhones seems set to allow users to block elements from pages and sites, including ads, cookie banners, and story elements or design choices they don't like. It is earmarked for Safari 18, scheduled for later in 2024 as part of a wider feature set to include things like AI-generated page summaries.

Lawyers, assemble!
More US newspapers are suing OpenAI and Microsoft for content theft. Eight big titles owned by Alden Global Capital, including the Chicago Tribune and New York Daily News, have filed a similar claim to that initiated by the New York Times last year. Although this is a separate action, the suit could end up being combined with the existing NYT action.
